The number of workers in London is projected to increase by 582,000 (up 10%) in the next 10 years. The Mayor Transport Strategy, published in 2018, aims to support this growth in population and jobs with sustainable, healthier, safer transport in London. At the same time, it is important to ensure essential freight and servicing traffic can continue to serve London.
London has a limited road capacity which will continue to be re-allocated to walking, cycling and public transport as the city is transformed through the Healthy Streets Approach.
